Teacher FAQ
Everything you need to know about teaching on Class Compass.
Class Compass is a platform that connects independent teachers with students seeking online classes. It
offers a searchable database for classes tailored to students' needs and allows teachers to reach a
wider audience.
To teach on Class Compass, you need to be an independent educator with your own content. Complete an
application, agree to our terms, and comply with guidelines, including background checks and FERPA/COPPA
laws. We also offer features for building and hosting classes directly on our platform.
Teachers manage their own payment processing without per-transaction fees. You pay a subscription to
use our platform, which allows you to keep most of your earnings while connecting with students.
Upon enrollment, you provide students with a link or access to your student dashboard for logging into
your classes.
You can offer a wide range of classes including academic subjects, social activities, skill-building,
and arts — coding, history, escape rooms, book clubs, and more. Classes for kids, teens, adults,
families, 1:1, and groups are all welcome.
Credit availability varies by state and institution. While Class Compass doesn't issue credits
directly, students may receive them from their school depending on its requirements. We recommend
students confirm with their institution.
If you are ESA certified in certain states you may be eligible to accept ESA funds. Students interested
in using ESA funds should contact you to verify your eligibility for their state.
Teaching here supports your independence as an educator. You retain full control over your content,
keep most of your earnings, and run your own business free from the restrictions of larger
corporations.
All teachers listed on Class Compass must verify their credentials and undergo background checks. We
also require compliance with federal and state laws governing education and child safety.
For consistency, we recommend Zoom, as most students are already familiar with it. Ensure it's
installed on a laptop or desktop. A good microphone, headset, and camera are essential. Note that
Chromebooks may have compatibility issues with live classes.
Yes — when creating a class listing you can specify any materials students need in advance so they're
fully prepared.
The number of listings depends on your chosen advertising package, ranging from a single class to
unlimited listings.
Listing classes on Class Compass ranges from $10/month to $8,000/year depending on your package. All
packages ensure full visibility in our searchable database.
No — unlike other platforms we don't take a percentage of your earnings or control your teaching
methods. You keep what you earn.
You retain full ownership of all content you create. Class Compass simply provides the platform for you
to advertise and reach students.
You are responsible for maintaining your own website, keeping your listings current, conducting
background checks for yourself and any teachers you hire, and complying with all applicable federal and
state laws.
Create a teaching website (or have us create one for you). Choose your advertising package. Share your
