Parent FAQ
Common questions from parents about Class Compass, safety, and getting started.
Class Compass is a searchable database for finding online classes tailored to your child's needs. It
offers advanced search filters including ADHD-friendly, autism-supportive, secular, and Christian class
options. Live, asynchronous, 1:1 tutoring, and family-oriented classes are all available.
Classes are taught by independent educators who manage their own content, websites, and staffing. All
listed teachers verify their credentials and undergo background checks. Many have extensive experience
in education and online teaching.
Teachers listed on Class Compass must verify credentials and pass background checks. We also require
compliance with FERPA and COPPA laws. You should always review a teacher's profile and check their
testimonials before enrolling your child.
Each teacher manages their own payment processing. There is no fee for parents to use Class Compass —
teachers pay a subscription to list their classes here so you can browse and enroll for free.
Upon enrollment, each teacher provides a login link or student dashboard. The exact process varies by
teacher and is communicated directly after enrollment.
Classes span academic subjects (Math, Science, Language Arts, History), arts, coding, gaming, tutoring,
and fun social activities like escape rooms and book clubs — for kids, teens, adults, and families.
Some teachers may be ESA certified in certain states. Contact the teacher of a class you are interested
in to confirm whether they can accept ESA funds in your state.
Class Compass supports independent teachers, meaning your money goes directly to educators — not a
large corporation. Teachers keep most of their earnings, which attracts passionate, committed
instructors who invest in their classes.
Most classes use Zoom, so your child will need a device — laptop, desktop, tablet, or phone — with Zoom
installed. Note that Chromebooks can have compatibility issues with some live online classes.
Each teacher specifies any required materials in their class listing so you can prepare before the
first session. Check the class description for a full list.
